How to provision an Oracle database service?

Initial Provisioning

  • Select the Provisioning app on the left-hand menu bar

On the Provisioning screen, enter a Service Name and Service Description.

Create a new database

  • Select the Database Engine from the options available: Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server. In this example, we will choose Oracle.

  • Select the Database Edition; this will be dependent on the licenses that you have from Oracle.

  • Select the Software Release that you would like to use for this instance.

  • You can select a specific version of this release to run by clicking on the pencil icon and selecting the appropriate version number.

  • Click on the Next button to continue.

Choose a Cloud Provider

  • On this next screen, you will choose the cloud provider and subscription where you want to run this database instance.

  • Choose the Subscription from the drop-down.

  • Select a region to deploy from the drop-down.

  • In this example, we will select US East (N. Virginia)

  • Select an Availability Zone to deploy to from the drop-down

  • In this example, we will select us-east-1a

  • Click Next to continue.

Select a Compute Shape

  • The next option is to select a Compute Shape for this instance; in most cases, the Tessell team will work with you to select an appropriate shape based on your performance requirements.

  • Select a Workload Type

  • High Performance or Standard (Default)

  • Once you have selected High Performance or Standard, you can choose the vCPUs your instance will require.

  • Note: This will adjust the Compute Shapes that are available to you in the Compute Shape drop-down

  • Select the Compute Shape that you’d like to use for this instance.

  • Select the amount of storage that this instance will require.

  • In this example, we will use the standard 50GB of storage.

  • By default, Tessell will provide Encryption at rest using the default encryption key. You can select your own encryption key here if applicable.

  • Click Next to continue.

Define Connectivity

  • Select a VPC and a port number for your connection.

  • Select if you would like to Enable SSL.

  • Select if you would like to enable Public Access and which IP Addresses should be allowed. Your detected public IP address should be automatically selected.

Configure the database instance

  • Enter the Database Name, Master Username, and Master Password. Please note this information in a secure location.

  • You can choose additional Advanced Configuration options by clicking on the arrow next to the Advanced Configuration box.

  • Click Next to continue.

Multi-AZ Configuration

  • Select if you’d like to Create a Multi-AZ Service. In this example, we will leave this option unchecked and configure an additional instance later on.

  • Click Next to continue.

Maintenance Settings

  • Click next to continue.
